Tape #3, Techniques for
Shaded Etching
The most beautiful, but least known technique. More sophisticated than carving, but faster to produce. Included are solid and variable area shading, positive and negative space, producing gray tones, producing shades of color on flashed glass, analyzing designs, and some special tricks. Four projects are included with patterns for each project.
Sandblast Glass Etching Series by Norm & Ruth Dobbins This series of video tapes, produced by Norm and Ruth Dobbins, owners of Professional Glass Consultants, presents a thorough and complete approach to learning all the techniques of sandblast glass etching. Each tape is professionally produced, featuring an explanation-demonstration approach. Each tape includes full size patterns for all projects demonstrated, so you can follow along step-by-step.
These videos are terrific learning tools for you and your employees. They are also good refreshers if you learned glass etching some time ago and have not used a technique in a long time. If you are a beginner, you will want to start out with tape #1, but if you have experience with some of the techniques, get only the tapes that teach the subjects you don't know.
